Ladies Run

This medal has nothing to do with quilting, but is all about running.

Every year there is the Ladies Run in Rotterdam. I didn't participate, but I saw this medal and it has a lot of hearts and what do you think of the shoe?

 

Deze medaille heeft natuurlijk niets te maken met quilten, maar er staan wel een heleboel hartjes op.

Je kreeg deze medaille bij de Ladies Run in Rotterdam. Mijn schoonmoeder werkte daar als vrijwilliger en kreeg er een mee naar huis! Toch leuk voor een foto. Hartjes zijn overal om ons heen.

Het is gewoon te mooi en aangezien ik bijna een werkje af heb....

 

Misschien eerst nog wat hartjes appliqueren en dan als beloning hier aan beginnen?

Sweet, sweet hearts...

This hearts are really, really sweet. Not easy to take a good picture, because all these sweets are behind the window. They look great!

 

Deze hartjes zijn echt zoet, de glazuur springt bijna van je tanden, zo zoet ziet het er uit!

Morgen de 22e is er weer een hartjes ochtend.

Van 10.00-12.00 uur ben je van harte welkom met de hartjes bij mij thuis.

Time flies

 I had to finish a quilt and did a lot of quilting, and my hearts: just waiting for better days.

 

Heel veel quiltwerk te doen, dus de hartjes wachten op betere tijden.

All this wonderful flowers are at the Efteling....I like this Spring explosion.

 

Explosies van kleur in de Efteling, altijd weer erg inspirerend.

Matching flowers at the witches house...Do you see tje hearts?

Hartjes op het huis en de bloemen passen er perfekt bij.

Crazy Heart workshop 29 juni

Soms valt er een gaatje in je agenda en dan kun je nog even wat nieuws inplannen.

 

Op 29 juni is er een speciale speciale workshop. Iets met een hart en borduren. Ik hoop dat het mooi weer is, want je kunt het ook prima in het zonnetje doen, dus dan installeren we ons in de tuin. We zorgen dat de lapjes niet wegwaaien...

Kosten voor deze dag: € 30,- euro, incl. lunch en patroon.

Je kunt je al aanmelden via een e-mail, info@quilterij.nl, de workshop staat nog niet op de website!

Reageer snel, want het aantal plaatsen is niet eindeloos.

 

Natuurlijk is er ook tijd om quilts in wording te showen met....sweet hearts.

Nice hearts to show

 This quilt is from Karin. Look at the hearts during Carnaval: they are drunk...

Nice to see all those blue hearts.

 

De hartjes van Karin zijn allemaal in het blauw...ook op hun zij gevallen tijdens Carnaval. Dit originele idee heb ik nog niet eerder gezien.

Heleen borduurt elke week één hartje...zo schattig tussen de geappliqueerde hartjes

This one is really nice from Heleen's quilt. She promised me to make one for me...Isn't that nice?

 

Dit is ook heel schattig: borduren in het kleine vlak. Ik krijg zo'n schattig hartje van haar. Is dat niet lief?

Today I finished my quilt with 366 little houses... the project from 2012.I had to squares left-over: one is filled with a lace house and one with a tiny appliqué heart...2013 is coming...

 

Vandaag de huisjesquilt afgemaakt, 366 huisjes en nog 1 gekantklost en een hartje dat vast vooruit kijkt naar 2013...

Heerlijk dat deze af is. Wil je hem zien? Hij hangt volgende week in Rijswijk.

Sweet Hearts on Wednesday

Quick Hearts quilt

Last week I got this cover for my iPhone. The men in my house know what I like as a present.

 

Vorige week kreeg ik deze cover voor mijn telefoon. Heel toepasselijk!

Er was ook nog een andere in de winkel, maar deze paste beter bij mijn hartjesquilt....Gauw verder met mijn hartjes, dan zal ik ze samen fotograferen...Dan moet ik wel een ander toestel gebruiken!

Deze twee foto's geven het resultaat van de Snelle Hartjes workshop van afgelopen zaterdag. Een quiltje voor een dienblad kun je dus bijna af hebben in een dag. Het was dat we wat moesten uithalen omdat de naadtoeslag niet klopte (eigenwijze naald...zullen we maar zeggen)

Dit wordt een quiltje in roze voor een ledikantje. Zo snoezig....

Het ging echt lekker snel.

Update!

Hearts are every where. Even if you don't have time to sew one...(I am a month behind schedule...) you see them. This big one is at a shop... 

The little hearts on the left, I got from an old lady. So sweet of her.

And the others? My friend M. is collecting hearts as well...I was allowed to pick some of hers...

That's really nice and sweet to do...

I made her these teeny tiny hearts. You can find the pattern at Attic 24

 Yesterday I picked up my hearts and started sewing: 7 in one day. Good progress

colourful crochet

This picture belongs to Sarah London. One of her brightful designs is at Homespun magazine no 117. It arrived just this afternoon.

I was curious about her work and googled some pictures. If you want to brighten your day...you have to do this as well!!!!

I saw also these hearts. They look like lace, aren't they wonderful?

Valentine's day

I love my hearts...the quilt is growing...

Heel langzaam groeit de quilt.

This hearts with the rose is for today. A red rose in the snow (again....still waiting for spring to come...)

 

Het Valentijns hartje (in de sneeuw....wat een dikke vlokken, ze dansen voor mijn raam naar beneden)

Last I found this patchwork at the attic. I made it 10 years ago. A square is 7 x 7 cm. Afterwards I framed it. Nice as a gift to a friend.

 

Dit maakte ik zo'n 10 jaar geleden...kleine vierkantjes en daarna in een lijstje. Leuk als cadeautje.

Crochet hearts

The little hearts are made of crochet...I tried them today after reading Rosabears. She gave a tutorial and I couldn't resist this ones.

Easy to make and so quick....

The appliqué block is for a little project called: Quilt rol. It is a part of the mystery Sweet Hearts.

Kleine gehaakte hartjes...ik vond ze bij Rosabears (link hierboven) en kon ze niet weerstaan. Even een paar gemaakt tijdens het printen van een patroon. Altijd handig om dan toch in de buurt van de printer te blijven. Dus even wat blogs lezen...en meteen de haaknaald gegrepen.

Schattig, nu nog een bestemming...

Gisteren veel hartjes gezien...en allemaal even leuk.

Ieder met zijn eigen techniek en foefjes.

 

A lot of hearts....

Deze hartjes zijn allemaal van Kaffe Fassett stofje gemaakt....

Dit zijn echt allemaal restjes op een lieve ondergrond. Hier wordt echt een hartje per dag gemaakt en gekeken naar de dag....is er iets bijzonders.

Je kunt hartjes natuurlijk ook borduren. Elk hartje een andere steek, zo wordt het een echte sampler!

Heel leuk om al die steken te zien...

Deze zijn met Vliesofix geplakt en worden lekker stoer gefestonneerd. Pittig van kleur

Hier een zoete quilt....En kijk dat lapje daar rechtsboven...met hartje!

 

In mijn quilt natuurlijk deze week wat oranje hartjes...Maandag zelfs met een oranje randje geborduurd. Vandaag houden we het maar bij koninginne blauw.

 

I used a lot of orange this week (the color of the royal family)...Today it is our Queens birthday, my heart got a royal blue accent in stitchery.

Sweet hearts bee

My love bought me this 'gevulde koek': a nice picture for your blog, he said.

Sweet isn't it? My men know that I have something with hearts this year...

 

Lekker zo'n gevulde koek...mocht hem gisteren nog niet opeten, want er moest ook nog een foto van gemaakt voor mijn blog.

Het is natuurlijk bijna Valentijn...ik ga maar niet naar de stad om te zien wat er allemaal te koop is aan moois.

Snow...

This nice girl loves the snow. This year she and her friends are my winterdecoration instead of christmas decoration. The snow cristals and ice skates fit very well!

 

Dit meisje houdt wel van de sneeuw. Deze decoratie kwam met Kerst niet uit de doos, maar past ook erg goed bij Januari.

Knitting sampler/Breirol Part 1

I never wrote a knitting pattern before...so forgive me if I made a mistake or used the wrong word.
Don't hesitate to give me tips, ask questions or whatever....

Nooit eerder schreef ik een breipatroon, dat is toch even anders dan patchwork en quilten. Ik hoor het graag als er vragen zijn. Vooral de Engelse termen vond ik lastig en kon ik niet altijd goed terugvinden.
Nog maar eens verder zoeken op het www.

Sweet Hearts breirol

Benodigdheden

4 bolletjes witte katoen (bijvoorbeeld Catania van Schachenmayr, 50 gr)
restjes rood, roze en oranje
breinaalden (maak een proeflapje voor de juiste naalddikte, zie ook productinformatie)
maasnaald
kabelnaald

Muizentandjes

We beginnen de rol met een muizentand randje.

Zet 44 steken op en brei 5 nld. in tricotsteek, als volgt dus:
1^e nld: averecht
2^e nld: recht
3^e nld: averecht
4^e nld: recht
5^e nld: averecht

 

6^e nld: 2 steken recht, *1 omslag, 2 steken recht samenbreien*, herhaal *.* 20 keer, 1 omslag, 2 st. recht. Er staan nu 45 steken op de naald
7^e nld: alle steken averecht breien

Zijkanten van het werk:

De eerste vier steken en laatste vier steken van het werk zijn vanaf hier steeds hetzelfde en worden in telpatronen niet weer gegeven.

Begin de naald met 2 steken recht, 2 steken averecht.

Eindig de naald met 2 steken averecht, 2 steken recht
Brei de teruggaande nld. de steken zoals ze zich voordoen.

Sweet Hearts breirol 

Deel 1  Hartjes, 3 op een rij

 

Brei 18 nld. in tricotsteek

Tricotsteek: 1 nld. recht, 1 nld. averecht

Als de nld. gebreid zijn, kunnen de hartjes er op worden gemaasd. Begin  op de 6^e nld. in het midden. Op de teltekening kun je ook het begin zien van het linker- en rechterhartje. Deze hartjes zijn verder gelijk aan de middelste.

Begin met mazen met de onderste punt en werk heen en weer.

Als de hartjes klaar zijn, kun je het eerste zes naalden van het breiwerk naar achteren omvouwen en vastnaaien. Hiermee is het muizentandje ook klaar.

Sweet Hearts knitting sampler

Materials

4 yarns of white cotton (Cantania by Schachenmayr, 50 gr.)
a little bit of red, pink and orange yarns
needles (the size depends of your thread and way of knitting)
mesh needle
cable needle

Mice in the tooth

We start this sampler with a mice in the tooth edge design
Start with 44 stitches  and knit the first 5 rows:
row 1: purl stitches
row 2: knit stitches
row 3: purl stitches
row 4: knit stitches
row 5: purl stitches

row 6: 2 knit stitches, * 1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches together*, repeat *.* 20 times, 1 yarn over, 2 knit stitches. You have 45 stitches now.

row 7: purl all stitches

Edges of your work

The first 4 and last 4 stitches of the sampler are the same from now on. They are not shown on the charted intstructions.

 

Start the row with 2 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches
End the row with 2 purl stitches and 2 knit stitches
Back: knit what you see!

After finishing this rows, you can embroider the hearts with a v-stitch. I really do not know the right English word, is it mesh stitch?
Start on the 6^th row at the center of your work. On the chart you can see the left and right heart as well (just a small part of it). They are the same as the showed one.
Start at the bottom of the heart and work from left to right and from right to left.

After finishing the hearts, it is time to finish your mice in the tooth edge. Fold to the back and sew.
